How can I make my sugar cut outs less puffy?

I purchased a big roll of Pillsbury sugar cookie dough for a great price. I'd like to use it to make my Christmas cutouts, but I've tried making cut outs from it before and they came out really puffy and soft. Does anyone know if I can add anything to keep them from puffing up so much? Maybe kneading in some flour?
