Flight Instructor Checkride Q?

I heard somewhere that on the FAA/DPE practical test they don't need to go into the FOI portion of the oral if you have a ground instructor certificate. Is this true? I thought the FARs said the same thing. I'm really trying to stay awake studying the FOI but there's about 4 sections of a lot of stuff you need to know.
